The EXO Found­a­tion is proud to announce the 2025 Sus­tain­ab­il­ity Awards. Our goal is to recog­nise and cel­eb­rate organ­isa­tions and busi­nesses that are lead­ing the way in sus­tain­able tour­ism and envir­on­ment­al pro­tec­tion in Asia.

Every pro­ject, no mat­ter its size, can con­trib­ute to a more sus­tain­able future for tour­ism. If you believe that your organ­isa­tion has the poten­tial to drive pos­it­ive change in the tour­ism industry, we invite you to apply for this year’s awards!

How to participate

Pub­lic and private sec­tor organ­isa­tions are eli­gible to par­ti­cip­ate with win­ners being selec­ted in both categories:

• Non-profits, NGOs, asso­ci­ations, cooper­at­ives and social enterprises
• Tour­ism com­pan­ies such as excur­sion sup­pli­ers, accom­mod­a­tion pro­viders, and trans­port companies.

We are par­tic­u­larly inter­ested in pro­jects that demon­strate excep­tion­al con­tri­bu­tions to:

• Car­bon foot­print reduction
• Mit­ig­a­tion and risk reduction
• Waste reduc­tion
• Cir­cu­lar eco­nomy innovation
• Eco­sys­tem restoration
• Biod­iversity conservation

People

• Loc­al empower­ment and sourcing

• Engage­ment
• Pre­ser­va­tion of cul­tur­al her­it­age sites
• Pro­mo­tion of liv­ing cul­tur­al heritage
• Respons­ible tour­ism practices

Eligibility requirements

Pro­jects must be loc­ated in one of the fol­low­ing countries: 

• Cam­bod­ia
• Indone­sia
• Japan
• Laos
• Malay­sia
• Myan­mar
• Thai­l­and
• Viet­nam
• Singa­pore
• South Korea

The pro­ject, busi­ness or organ­isa­tion must demon­strate a clear com­mit­ment to pos­it­ively impact­ing loc­al com­munit­ies, eco­nom­ies, cul­tures and/or envir­on­ments. In addi­tion to com­plet­ing the applic­a­tion ques­tion­naire, par­ti­cipants will be required to sub­mit sup­port­ing doc­u­ment­a­tion and high-qual­ity images that effect­ively show­case their project.

EXO Found­a­tion strives to be a driv­ing force in act­ively fos­ter­ing sus­tain­able devel­op­ment and improv­ing pos­it­ive soci­et­al and envir­on­ment­al changes through the pro­mo­tion of respons­ible tourism. 

It also aims to pave the way for main­stream­ing good prac­tices with­in the travel industry in Asia that will max­im­ise the poten­tial for tour­ism to become a tool for poverty alle­vi­ation and sus­tain­able development.
