Associations to cooperate in cultural heritage preservation, tourism training
Press release from āGood TourĀismā Insight PartĀner the World TourĀism AssoĀciĀation for CulĀture & HerĀitĀage (WTACH):
Two globĀal tourĀism assoĀciĀations are joinĀing forces to doveĀtail key objectĀives in their fields of culĀturĀal herĀitĀage proĀtecĀtion and vocaĀtionĀal training.
A new partĀnerĀship agreeĀment between the World TourĀism AssoĀciĀation for CulĀture & HerĀitĀage (WTACH) and the World AssoĀciĀation for HosĀpitĀalĀity & TourĀism EduĀcaĀtion & TrainĀing (AMFORHT) covĀers wide ranĀging activĀitĀies such as events, semĀinars, vlogs and knowĀledge exchange.
The two organĀisaĀtions have agreed to seek out areas and opporĀtunĀitĀies of mutuĀal beneĀfit that will raise awareĀness, attract new memĀbers and help to achieve posĀitĀive long-term resĀults for the broad specĀtrum of travel, tourĀism and hosĀpitĀalĀity. RecipĀrocĀal comĀpliĀmentĀary memĀberĀship for the durĀaĀtion of the agreeĀment is also part of the agreement.
WTACH PresĀidĀent Chris Flynn (picĀtured above, left) believes that the COVID-19 panĀdemĀic has creĀated an opporĀtunĀity for culĀturĀal attracĀtions and herĀitĀage sites to rebalĀance the importĀance of preĀserving and proĀtectĀing these assets with an ever-growĀing demand from locĀal and interĀnaĀtionĀal tourists.
āWorkĀing with AMFORHT will creĀate a wealth of opporĀtunĀitĀies for our most treasĀured tourĀism attracĀtions,ā said Flynn.
AMFORHT PresĀidĀent, PhilĀippe FranĀcois (picĀtured above, right) believes that the tourĀism industry will rebound in the upcomĀing months. āTourĀism has always been a resiĀliĀent industry that overĀcomes crises due to the thirst that we all have of enrichĀing ourselves from all cultures.ā
He added: āAs we share comĀmon objectĀives, human valĀues, and straĀtegic oriĀentĀaĀtions with WTACH, weāll work togethĀer to strengthen human resource exchanges and eduĀcaĀtion withĀin desĀtinĀaĀtions around the planet.ā
AMFORHT was creĀated by the UNWTO over 50 years ago to study and proĀmote, interĀnaĀtionĀally, the develĀopĀment of vocaĀtionĀal trainĀing in the tourĀism secĀtor at large (includĀing hotels, resĀtaurĀants, transĀport & recreĀation) to betĀter match trainĀing to new conĀdiĀtions in the workĀplace. The AssoĀciĀation is headquartered in France.
WTACH seeks to estabĀlish clear goals, objectĀives and strategies for the proĀtecĀtion of culĀturĀal herĀitĀage through responsĀible and susĀtainĀable tourĀism pracĀtices. WorkĀing in colĀlabĀorĀaĀtion with pubĀlic, private and speĀcialĀist acaĀdemĀic secĀtor organĀisaĀtions, WTACH determĀines best pracĀtice ethĀicĀal prinĀciples and standĀards in line with the most robust globĀal research availĀable. WTACH was estabĀlished in 2018 by Chris Flynn, formerly DirĀectĀor ā Pacific at the Pacific Asia Travel AssoĀciĀation. The AssoĀciĀation is based in New South Wales, Australia.
